For this assignment we were required to spend one hour by ourselves doing something that pushed us out of our comfort zone. I didn't intentionally chose a competency to address when I set out on my adventure. I had an idea of how I would think and feel, but wanted to see where this would lead me. I was actually surprised at how uncomfortable and unsure I felt during the activity. This wasn't in an overwhelming or fearful way, but enough that I was consciously aware of it. The global competency that this addresses most closely is "undertaking unfamiliar tasks" but also helped me deal with change.
VLog: Hour by Myself
ReplyDelete- Took bus to the train station, buy ticket, talked w/ traveler from Australia
- Talked to bus driver, saw more of the surrounding w/o the group, tried machine, went to counter, surprisingly difficult, realized didn’t spend much time alone, at home have ways to adjust, more difficult here,
Lauren: This was a very nice VLog entry. For the experienced traveler, it is often more of a challenge to have one’s eyes opened. Having traveled many places, I understand this feeling well. I also know that one must take care not to become complacent of one’s competencies, or else run the risk of not learning from one’s experiences. Even though you put yourself in a fairly “easy” (easy for you) situation, you were perceptive enough to learn little lessons here and there. I liked your insights about how you might see more alone than with a group, that you don’t really spend much time alone, or that you rely heavily on a network of resources back home. For your next VLog, let’s see what situation you come up with to push yourself to new insights. Overall, very good. David
